Tsang Kin-wah to Present Nietzsche-Inspired Installation at 2015 Venice Biennale Hong Kong Pavilion

exhibition · 2026-04-20

For the 2015 Venice Biennale, Tsang Kin-wah is set to develop a site-specific installation for the Hong Kong collateral event, which will include four new video projections drawing inspiration from Friedrich Nietzsche's ideas along with elements of Christianity, Buddhism, and Taoism. This installation will alter the courtyard at Campo della Tana, Castello 2126-30122, creating a night-like atmosphere and linking spaces for an immersive experience. Tsang noted that his methodology is consistent with traditional exhibitions, despite the biennale's vastness, and highlighted the importance of utilizing space effectively. A brochure detailing the concepts will cater to various audiences. He reminisced about his visit to the biennale in 2003 and expressed anticipation for the main exhibition curated by Okwui Enwezor. Tsang also remarked that Art Basel Hong Kong exerts a more significant impact on the local art landscape. This interview appeared on 8 April 2015 as part of ArtReview's Venice Questionnaire series.
