Trump ties Iran deal to expanded Abraham Accords participation

On Monday, US President Donald Trump emphasized that any future agreement with Iran should involve additional nations, specifically Saudi Arabia and Turkey, joining the Abraham Accords—normalization agreements with Israel established during his first term. In a post on social media, Trump indicated that negotiations are "proceeding nicely," but he insisted that expanded participation in the accords, initially signed in 2020, is a prerequisite for any deal. He urged Saudi Arabia and Qatar to sign "immediately," followed by Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, and Jordan. Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates were the first signatories in 2020. Trump noted that, given the extensive efforts by the US, it is essential for all these countries to sign the accords simultaneously. He discussed this strategy with leaders during negotiations on Saturday. While he suggested he could accept "one or two" countries opting out, he expressed confidence that most would agree. Egypt and Jordan already have peace treaties with Israel and formally recognize it.
