Triptyque's Assemblage Collection Translates Architectural Principles into Furniture

The Franco-Brazilian studio Triptyque has designed the Assemblage furniture collection for Brazilian firm Breton, translating modern architectural structural logics into domestic scale. The collection explores support, balance, and tension in wood, referencing 20th-century architectural concepts like cantilever, large structural spans, megastructures, and load-bearing grids. Each piece makes structural tensions visible as part of the formal language, turning furniture into miniature architectural essays. Wood is central, balancing structural rigor with visual lightness. The collection reflects Triptyque's approach since its founding in São Paulo in 2000 and in Paris in 2008, led by architects Guillaume Sibaud and Olivier Raffaëlli. The studio has worked across Latin America and Europe on residential, corporate, educational, hospitality, healthcare, and research projects. Their work has been exhibited internationally, with models in the collections of the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Assemblage condenses this architectural thinking into pieces that function as habitable models, suggesting furniture can operate as a conceptual laboratory for architecture.
