Triennale Milano Unveils Fall 2016–Winter 2017 Program
Claudio De Albertis, president of Triennale di Milano, announced the institution's autumn-winter 2016–2017 program following the closure of the XXI Esposizione Internazionale, which attracted 476,000 visitors but sold only 150,000 tickets due to free related exhibitions. The upcoming season features architecture, design, and photography shows, notably excluding art presentations already announced separately. Highlights include 'Made in Europe 1988–2013' (October 13, 2016–January 8, 2017), the Mies van der Rohe Award 2015 exhibition (November 4, 2016–January 8, 2017), and 'Antonio Sant'Elia. Realtà e Visioni' (November 25, 2016–January 8, 2017) for the centenary of the futurist architect's death. The photography program includes 'Federico Patellani. La guerra è finita. Nasce la Repubblica. Milano 1945-1946' at MuFoCo (September 18, 2016–January 15, 2017) and 'L'Altro Sguardo. Fotografe italiane 1965-2015' at Triennale (October 5, 2016–January 8, 2017). The institution also focuses on its Monza venue at Villa Reale with projects by Antonio Marras, Pierluigi Ghianda, Alessi, and a charity project involving 50 designers and artists. De Albertis emphasized the need for operational convergence to strengthen the Triennale system for the next edition in 2019.
