Trevor Yeung's 'Courtyard of Attachments' at Venice Biennale explores human-aquatic ties with fishless aquariums.

exhibition · 2026-04-20

From April 20 to November 24, 2024, Hong Kong artist Trevor Yeung will showcase eight new pieces in his exhibition titled 'Courtyard of Attachments' as part of the collateral events for La Biennale di Venezia. Organized by M+ and the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, this exhibition explores themes of emotional disconnection and power dynamics in modern society through conceptual installations. Yeung's work is influenced by his personal history, including his father's seafood restaurant, childhood pet fish, feng shui, and the interplay between humans and aquatic ecosystems. The exhibition will take place at Campo della Tana, Castello 2126, 30122, Venice, Italy, right in front of the Arsenale's main entrance. An adapted version will be featured at M+ in 2025, inviting viewers to rethink societal power structures through the lens of personal memory and aquatic themes.
