Trentino's Post-Lockdown Cultural Events: Drodesera, Biennale Gherdeina, and More

Trentino has emerged as a rare exception in Italy's post-lockdown cultural landscape, activating a series of events with strict safety protocols. The Drodesera Festival of Performing Arts celebrates its 40th edition with the theme 'Staremo insieme come in un sogno' at the former Fies hydroelectric plant near Arco and Dro. It features world premieres, including performances by Alessandro Sciarroni and choreographies by Jacopo Jenna, along with the exhibition 'Storia Notturna' curated by Simone Frangi and Denis Isaia, exploring mythology and folklore. A winter edition is planned for early 2021. The Biennale Gherdeina, directed by Adam Budak with support from gallerist Doris Ghetta, runs until October 10 in Val Gardena and Ortisei, showcasing over fifty international artists. Notable works include Marcello Maloberti's posters with local phrases and installations by Gregor Prugger at the Pilat plateau, plus a performance by Paulina Olowska. The Trento Film Festival 'Montagne e Culture', one of Italy's oldest film festivals founded in 1952 by CAI and the City of Trento, concluded with streaming until September 9. The OrienteOccidente Dance Festival in Rovereto, Italy's longest-running contemporary dance festival, reaches its 40th edition with a photographic exhibition in two chapters and a tribute to Merce Cunningham, held in collaboration with MART until September 12.
