Trenchs Studio designs greenhouse retail extension for Filandón restaurant in Madrid
Trenchs Studio has completed a greenhouse structure for Filandón restaurant in El Pardo, Madrid, serving as a retail and display space that connects agricultural production with culinary presentation. The project extends the restaurant's program to include the sale of produce sourced directly from Granja de los Monjes in El Bierzo, alongside packaged goods and house-made products. Constructed with aluminum profiles, the contemporary reinterpretation of traditional European greenhouses features passive environmental controls including olive-green wooden roof shutters that regulate daylight and ventilation. Inside, a single continuous space is organized around a central table combining wood and natural stone that defines circulation and display zones. Display systems include circular bronze pedestals for fresh vegetables and an oak cabinet for preserved items, with lighting designed to emphasize material textures. The structure operates as an intermediary between kitchen, garden, and shop, creating a controlled environment where architectural elements support seasonal food presentation within a defined spatial framework.
