Treccani Arte and MAXXI Launch Limited Edition Artworks for Museum's Decennial

publication · 2026-04-27

The MAXXI – Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo in Rome continues its tenth-anniversary celebrations with a new partnership with Treccani Arte, the contemporary art division of the Istituto della Enciclopedia Italiana founded by Giovanni Treccani. The initiative, Treccani Arte/MAXXI, will produce limited-edition artworks by ten Italian and international artists whose histories intersect with the museum. The first three artists are Alfredo Jaar, Remo Salvadori, and Nico Vascellari. Each limited edition is conceived in dialogue with works by the same artists already in the MAXXI collections. Jaar's edition, "Antonio Gramsci è vivo," is based on his 2004 work "Infinite Cell" and will be produced in 35 copies plus 6 artist's proofs. Salvadori's "Nel momento" (25 copies + 6 PDA) derives from his 2019 work "Alfabeto," shown in the exhibition "Della materia spirituale dell'arte." Vascellari's "REVENGE (Under The Sign Of)" (12 copies + 3 PDA) is based on his 2007 work "Revenge," which won the Premio giovane arte at the 52nd Venice Biennale and was reinstalled at MAXXI in 2018. The editions will be available from January 2021 on the Treccani website. Other decennial initiatives include the digital festival "Una storia per il futuro" held in June 2020, the exhibition "senza margine. Passaggi nell'arte italiana a cavallo del millennio," and a commemorative stamp featuring the museum's glass facade.
