Travelogue workshop returns to Anacapri with artists Flavio Favelli and Maurizio Nannucci

other · 2026-05-04

Travelogue, an initiative founded in 2008 by Arianna Rosica, returns to Capri for its tenth edition, running until October 20, 2018. The project involves local students from the Istituto Axel Munthe in workshops led by two artists each season—this year, Flavio Favelli and Maurizio Nannucci. The workshops take place at the Capri Palace Hotel, whose general manager Ermanno Zanini is a contemporary art collector. Since 2016, works from Travelogue have been exhibited as part of the Festival del Paesaggio, co-founded by Rosica and critic-curator Gianluca Riccio. The festival, now in its third edition, focuses on landscape and aims to detach art from Capri's glamorous stereotype. Past editions explored themes like "the swimming pool" and "the postcard." Rosica noted that local students initially had little exposure to contemporary art, often finding it strange or boring, and had never visited a contemporary art museum. Participation is voluntary; 28 students from classical and scientific high schools joined this year. Many site-specific works remain on the island, with plans to donate others to a future contemporary art museum at Villa Rosa, near Villa San Michele. The selection of artists Favelli (born 1967) and Nannucci (born 1939) reflects different generations and personal curatorial tastes.
