Trasparenze Festival in Modena Features Inclusive Theatre and Mythological Reinterpretations

The Trasparenze festival in Modena, curated by Stefano Tè and Agostino Riitano, focuses on audience education, particularly youth, through its Konsulta group of 16- to 25-year-olds who help select performances. This year's edition is inspired by Moby Dick, exploring themes of transformation and quest. The festival opened with two shows at Modena's prison, in collaboration with Teatro dei Venti. Notable performances include Zaches Teatro's 'Minotauro,' a mythological piece blending dance, puppetry, and electronic sound, though criticized for lacking dramatic tension. Generazione Disagio's 'Dopodiché stasera mi butto' tackles precarity and existential crisis with humor, using a game-show format where contestants accumulate 'disagio' (discomfort) towards a suicide finale. Teatro La Ribalta and Teatropersona's 'H&G' reimagines Hansel and Gretel as an initiatory journey, performed by actors with disabilities, praised for its poetic intensity. The festival ran in 2016.
