Transmission: Modular Exhibition at Villa Arson Explores Collective Strategies

exhibition · 2026-04-23

The exhibition "Transmission" at Villa Arson in Nice, running from March 19 to June 4, 2006, is a modular show in three parts. The first part focuses on the Poïpodrome by Robert Filliou and Joachim Pfeufer, a utopian collective creation experiment from the 1960s. The second part presents 400 works from the Cneai collection, a Paris-region institution specializing in artist publications such as books, newspapers, tracts, records, posters, and stickers. Fifteen artists were invited to create spatial devices to display works meant for circulation in public or hand-to-hand. The third part is a solo exhibition of British artist Jeremy Deller. Curators are Éric Mangion, Sylvie Boulanger, and Christophe Kihm. The show aims not to present a harmonious ensemble but to stimulate reflection on strategies artists use to create connections. Deller's work, shown via video diaries, documents his travels through English and American landscapes, capturing fragments of collective memory. His methods include reconstruction (as in "The Battle of Orgreave") and transcription (as in "Acid Brass").
