TRAM's Hospitalités 2013 Connects 31 Art Spaces Across Île-de-France
The fourth edition of Hospitalités, organized by the TRAM network, will launch on May 25, 2013, spanning seven weekends across 31 contemporary art venues in Île-de-France. Conceived as a biennial, Hospitalités aims to foster hospitality and political engagement by making art accessible beyond Paris. The 2013 edition introduces 'archipelagos'—clusters of venues grouped by programming affinities or geographic proximity—to encourage movement between sites. Visitors are guided by narrators who transform travel into a collective, imaginative experience. The event responds to a perceived lack of hospitality in French society and seeks to break down psychological barriers between central Paris and its suburbs. TRAM co-presidents Aude Cartier and Eric Degoutte emphasize that the network produces no additional exhibitions but highlights existing programming, which collectively amounts to 200 exhibitions, 1,500 artists, and 1.5 million visitors annually. The 2013 edition features 103 artists across all participating structures.
