Train Driver Who Saved Woman from Suicide Later Marries Her

In 2019, Charlotte Lay, a 33-year-old healthcare assistant from Bingley, England, attempted suicide by sitting on train tracks. Instead of hitting her, the train stopped, and the driver, Dave, got out and talked her through the crisis. They later connected on Facebook, developed a relationship, and married in 2022. Charlotte, who lives with major depressive disorder, anxiety, PTSD, and borderline personality disorder, now works at Airedale Hospital in Bradford and has three children, two of whom are Dave's. She shared her story to encourage empathy and understanding, emphasizing that simple human connection can save lives. Dave echoed this, noting that everyone has the capacity to help others in crisis.
