institutional · 2026-04-20

Count Christian Duerckheim, a German industrialist, has arranged a long-term loan of Tracey Emin's My Bed to the Tate for a minimum of ten years. This follows his recent acquisition of the artwork at auction. Duerckheim's private collection also features prominently in the British Museum's exhibition Germany Divided: Baselitz and his Generation, which runs until 31 August 2014. That show includes 90 works on paper by post-war German artists such as Georg Baselitz, A.R. Penck, Sigmar Polke, and Gerhard Richter, all from his holdings. Of these, 34 pieces have been donated to the museum. The loan agreement was reported by The Art Newspaper.
