Tracey Emin records station announcements for TfL Priority Seating Week

other · 2026-05-11

Transport for London has enlisted artist Tracey Emin to record station announcements for its annual Priority Seating Week, running 11–17 May 2026. Emin's messages will play at major Underground stations including Bank, Canary Wharf, Liverpool Street, and others, urging passengers to offer seats to those with non-visible disabilities. The campaign, now in its eighth year, is part of TfL's broader Equity in Motion strategy, which has delivered over half of its 100+ actions since 2024. TfL staff will distribute 'Please Offer Me A Seat' and 'Baby on Board' badges at stations such as Paddington, Ealing Broadway, and Woolwich; these badges have been issued over 170,000 times since 2017, with one now in the Victoria and Albert Museum collection. Emin, who has spoken about her own cancer and stoma, said she knows the impact of a health condition on standing on a train. Deputy Mayor Debbie Weekes-Bernard noted the mayor's commitment to accessibility. Additional improvements include updated priority seating signage and new exterior stickers on Docklands Light Railway trains.
