Toyo Ito Curates Andrea Branzi Retrospective at Milan's Triennale
An exhibition dedicated to architect and designer Andrea Branzi, curated by Toyo Ito, is on view at the Triennale di Milano from March 19 to October 4. Titled 'Continuous Present,' the show explores Branzi's career through over 400 items, including drawings, objects, books, catalogs, and letters. The exhibition was developed in collaboration with Nicoletta Morozzi and Lorenza Branzi, with curation by Nina Bassoli of Triennale's Architecture, Urban Regeneration and the City department and Michela Alessandrini of the Fondation Cartier pour l'Art Contemporain. The presentation focuses on Branzi's contributions to museography and exhibition design, emphasizing concepts of fluidity, permeability, and non-hierarchical space. Two key installations are recreated: 'Gazebo,' a wire mesh cage originally shown at the Fondation Cartier in Paris in 2008, and 'Ellipse,' a transparent glass enclosure from the same year. The exhibition examines Branzi's interest in fragility, crisis, and the human element within architectural practice. A catalog published by Electa accompanies the show.
