Torino's Street Art Ecosystem: From MurArte to SAMO
Turin boasts a vibrant street art community, highlighted by prominent associations, festivals, and galleries. In 1999, Corn79 and Mr. Fijodor established Il Cerchio e Le Gocce, which initiated the MurArte project and co-hosted the PicTurin festival in 2010. They also developed Inkmap, a neighborhood guide to street art. Founded in 2011, URBE emphasizes urban art initiatives such as NizzArt and BUA, and introduced the Bunker startup in 2012. A new association, led by Eugenio Dragoni, was formed in July 2013. BorderGate promoted the SAM, an outdoor mural gallery featuring over sixty pieces. Since 1995, the MAU, under Edoardo Di Mauro's direction, has created 104 murals, while Galo Art Gallery and Square 23 nurture the post-graffiti movement.
