Torino's Condominium-Museum ViadellaFucina16 Wins Film Grant
ViadellaFucina16, the world's first condominium-museum in Turin, has won a €19,000 grant from the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage (Mibac) to produce a documentary about its unique experiment. The project, conceived in 2016 by Kaninchen-Haus and the cultural association Coniglioviola, is housed in a 19th-century building with 200 residents of diverse nationalities. The 15-minute film, directed by Lucio Viglierchio and Miha Sagadin and produced by Massimo Arvat of Zenit Arti Audiovisive, was one of the winners of the first Mibac Cineperiferie call, which allocated €200,000 for short documentary production. The total production cost is €34,000. The documentary was previewed at the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin, organized by Zenit Arti Audiovisive and Kaninchen-Haus in collaboration with Piemonte Movie, as a prelude to the gLocal Film Festival (March 5-10, 18th edition). The festival will screen 59 documentaries and short films from Piedmont at the Museo del Cinema – Massimo in Turin. Artist Brice Coniglio (of ConiglioViola) noted the project's recent recognition, including the Cineperiferie prize and the OpenLab grant from Compagnia di San Paolo for audience engagement, which will help replicate the condominium-museum model in other buildings in Piedmont and Liguria in collaboration with the University of Turin's Department of Culture, Politics and Society. The collection includes works by Giorgio Griffa and Michelangelo Pistoletto.
