Torino's Artist Studios: A Guide and Mobile Website Launch in 2018

publication · 2026-05-05

The MiBACT Regional Secretariat for Piedmont has been mapping artist studios in Turin for several years, supported by the Directorate General for Contemporary Art and Architecture and Urban Peripheries under the Piano per l'arte contemporanea. The project, titled 'Studi d’Artista. I luoghi di produzione dell’arte,' has reached its third edition. It first identifies artists, studios, and galleries, then publishes a printed guide for itineraries and guided tours. Over three years, 72 studios, 90 artists, and 14 galleries have been involved, according to project creator Stefania Dassi. The neighborhoods covered include Borgo Vanchiglia (2014), San Salvario (2015), and areas beyond the Dora river (2017), such as Barriera di Milano, where artist Alessandro Bulgini operates. The guide features photographs by Nicolò Taglia and texts by Carla Testore. Starting spring 2018, the website 'Studio d’Artista Mobile' will go online, functioning as a social platform, and guided studio visits will be organized.
