Torino condominium museum opens exhibition only for residents during lockdown
During Italy's lockdown, the condominium-museum Viadellafucina16 in Turin's Porta Palazzo district organized an exhibition called 'GentiliVicini' accessible only to the building's 200 residents. Founded in 2016 by artists Brice Coniglio and Andrea Raviola, the museum-apartment building has been a hub for creative experimentation. The show features works by 2020 residency participants Raffaele Cirianni, Daniele Costa, Genuardi/Ruta (Antonella Genuardi and Leonardo Ruta), Simona Anna Gentile, Diego Miguel Mirabella, and Matteo Vettorello, supported by MiBACT and SIAE's 'Per chi crea' initiative. Uniquely, the exhibition is curated by Piera Valentina Gallov, a hen that serves as the building's mascot. Coniglio stated that the closed-door show aims to strengthen community bonds through art during uncertainty. The event also marks the first public output of the SezioneAurora collective, a group of young Turin artists formed with support from the Creative Living Lab prize, exploring local utopia and social regeneration. Meanwhile, the association Kaninchen-Haus, which manages Viadellafucina16, announced a pause in activities to reassess the project's future amid growing institutional interest and bureaucratic challenges.
