Torino Book Fair 2017: Art Takes Center Stage at Lingotto

The 30th edition of the Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino features a strong art program alongside literature. The fair, held at Lingotto Fiere, includes the 'Match. Letteratura vs Arte' series moderated by critic Vincenzo Trione. On May 19, Tullio Pericoli faces Giuseppe Montesano; on May 20, Emilio Isgrò debates Emanuele Trevi and Alessandro Bergonzoni; on May 21, Marcello Jori confronts Melania Mazzucco. Isgrò's work 'I Promessi Sposi cancellati per 25 lettori e 10 appestati' is on view at Intesa Sanpaolo skyscraper until May 31. Milo Manara discusses his career and collaborations with Federico Fellini, Hugo Pratt, and Alejandro Jodorowsky on May 20. Philippe Daverio gives a lecture on 20th-century art crossovers on May 21. The Bookstock Village hosts exhibitions on illustration and comics, including a show on female artists (Mary Cassatt, Frida Kahlo, Sonia Delaunay, Georgia O'Keeffe, Louise Bourgeois) reinterpreted by illustrators, with a section on collectors like Peggy Guggenheim. Another exhibition, 'Questa non è una mostra, Signor Magritte,' continues from Bologna's Fondazione Gualandi, with illustrators Emma Lewis and Gabi Swiatkowska present. Franco Boni, president of BolognaFiere, highlights the collaboration between Bologna Children's Book Fair and Salone del Libro.
