Topolino's New Comic Dedicated to the Royal Palace of Caserta
A new issue of Topolino, titled 'Zio Paperone e la regale ispirazione,' will be released on May 8, 2024, focusing on the Reggia di Caserta. Written and drawn by Alessandro Sisti and Alessandro Perina, the story features Donald Duck and the Beagle Boys in a heist plot involving Scrooge McDuck's fortune. The comic includes historical insights about the 'paperized' Reggia di Quackserta. This follows Topolino's 2023 volume on Dadaism and avant-garde movements, and a 2021 tribute to Ernest Hemingway. The initiative aims to use comics as a cultural mediation tool, similar to the ministry's 'Fumetti dei musei' project. The Reggia di Caserta, designed by Luigi Vanvitelli in 1752, is one of the world's most extraordinary royal residences. Sisti expressed pride in bringing Disney characters to this iconic site, hoping readers will be inspired to visit. Topolino, published by Panini since 2013, has a weekly readership of over one million.
