Tony-Winning Director Anna D. Shapiro to Lead Juilliard's Drama Division
Anna D. Shapiro has been appointed as the Richard Rodgers Dean and Director of Juilliard's Drama Division, effective July 1, 2027. She succeeds Evan Yionoulis, who has moved on to lead the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale. Shapiro previously served as the artistic director of Steppenwolf Theatre Company from 2015 to 2021 and received a Tony Award in 2008 for directing "August: Osage County." Ara Guzelimian will act as interim dean for the upcoming year, while Laura Linney takes on the role of artistic advisor to the drama division.
