Tony Nominations Boost Broadway Grosses; Every Brilliant Thing Hits High

The Tony nominations have significantly boosted box office performance for several Broadway shows. Death of a Salesman, with nine nominations, grossed $1.7 million at 100% capacity at the Winter Garden Theatre. Ragtime earned $1.2 million at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theatre. The Lost Boys, tied for most nominations, grossed $1.16 million at 89% capacity. Schmigadoon! brought in $843,000 at 85% capacity. Every Brilliant Thing reached nearly $2 million with an average ticket price of $250, as Daniel Radcliffe's run ends. The show recouped earlier this month; Mariska Hargitay takes over May 26, followed by Tracee Ellis Ross. Every Brilliant Thing was the highest-grossing show, followed by Hamilton ($1.9 million), The Lion King ($1.714 million), and Death of a Salesman. Oh Mary! with Maya Rudolph grossed $1.6 million. Conversely, Beaches fell to 44% capacity and $441,484 at the Majestic Theatre, with no Tony nominations. Celebrity Autobiography earned only $33,953 over three performances at the Shubert Theatre, with an average ticket of $15.22 and 66% capacity. Death Becomes Her announced a June 28 closing after grossing under $700,000 at 66% capacity at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
