Tommy Malekoff's 'The Geography of Nowhere' Opens at ZERO… in Milan

Tommy Malekoff (b. 1992, South Boston) presents his first solo exhibition in Italy, 'The Geography of Nowhere,' at ZERO… gallery in Milan. The show features sculptural and silkscreen works created during the pandemic, inspired by essential businesses that remained open. The series 'Exit Shelter' (2020) depicts fast-food joints and gas stations as blinding nocturnal apparitions, while architectural models reclaim shopping malls from his hometown now turned into pizzerias or strip clubs. In the lower-floor hangar, the two-channel video installation 'Desire Lines' (2019, shot between August 2017 and March 2019) loops surreal sequences of horses, iguanas, people, and cars in a parking lot, accompanied by tire roars and orchestrated sounds. The exhibition runs until an unstated date.
