Tommaso Tisot's New Entries Fair Fund Supports Emerging Galleries at Artissima

Tommaso Tisot, an Alto Adige lawyer and collector, launched the second edition of the New Entries Fair Fund at Artissima (November 1–3, 2019) through his consultancy Professional Trust Company. The fund provides €4,000 each to three galleries active for no more than five years, covering their stand costs so they can invest in research and new works. The 2019 recipients are Emalin (London) with a project by Athena Papadopoulos, Öktem Aykut (Istanbul) with Can Altay and Ihsan Oturmak, and Vin Vin (Vienna) with Myles Starr. Tisot aims to shake up the Italian art system by supporting emerging galleries rather than individual artists. He co-developed the fund with Ilaria Bonacossa, choosing Artissima for its international focus and sophisticated collectors. Despite the galleries being foreign, Tisot notes Italian connections: Vin Vin's Vincenzo della Corte is Neapolitan, and Emalin has a Milanese partner. Tisot also participates in the talk "Nuovi Modelli di Residenza" on November 1 with Edoardo Monti, discussing Palazzo Monti, a Brescia artist residency funded via a trust. He advises young gallerists to avoid trends, do research, and commit fully to artists, citing Massimo Minini as a model. Tisot's collection currently focuses on South African, African, and Middle Eastern art, particularly Turkish artists.
