Tommaso Calabro to Relocate Milan Gallery After Five Years at Palazzo Marietti

exhibition · 2026-04-27

After five years at Palazzo Marietti in Piazza San Sepolcro, Milan, gallerist Tommaso Calabro is moving his gallery to a new location in Corso Italia, near Porta Lodovica, due to the building's sale. The new space, on the ground floor of another 19th-century palazzo, will open in January with a group show featuring Tiger Tateishi, Harold Stevenson, and William Copley, continuing the narrative thread linking his exhibitions. Calabro, who studied at Bocconi University and the Courtauld Institute of Art, previously directed Nahmad Projects in London before opening his own gallery in 2018. His first exhibition at Palazzo Marietti was a tribute to Italian gallerist Carlo Cardazzo, featuring Cy Twombly and Tancredi Parmeggiani. Subsequent shows included Jean Dubuffet and a survey on Alexander Iolas, the dealer who introduced Surrealists to New York and organized Andy Warhol's first and last exhibitions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Calabro's gallery remained open while museums were closed, attracting up to 150 visitors daily. He also announced a new venue in Feltre, his hometown, set to open in spring in a 16th-century palazzo, managed by his brother Nicolò. The final exhibition at Palazzo Marietti, opening September 30, traces the gallery's five-year history, starting with a Magritte painting.
