Tomaso De Luca's Dual Exhibition in Rome and Pereto Explores Queer Domesticity
Tomaso De Luca (Verona, 1988) presents a two-venue exhibition titled 'We Don't Like Your House Either!' at Galleria Monitor in Rome and Pereto. The show, curated by Francesco Urbano Ragazzi, examines the concept of home as both refuge and prison, drawing on queer culture, AIDS history, and modernist architecture. Key works include a rare video by Stan VanDerBeek featuring Robert Morris and Carolee Schneemann, and early drawings by Patrick Angus. Other artists in the exhibition include Joanna Piotrowska, A.L. Steiner (of Chicks on Speed), and Gina Folly. De Luca's distorted maquettes serve as totemic objects linking the works. In Pereto, a box of amateur erotic photos from San Francisco's Castro Market references the AIDS crisis. The exhibition coincides with De Luca's participation in the Maxxi Bulgari Prize and 'Die Schlüssel des Schlosses' at the Quadriennale.
