Tomaso Binga's 50-Year Retrospective 'Euforia' Opens at Madre Museum in Naples

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The Madre Museum in Naples is hosting 'Euforia,' a comprehensive retrospective of Tomaso Binga (born Bianca Pucciarelli Menna), curated by Eva Fabbris with Daria Khan. The exhibition spans 50 years of the artist's career, focusing on her use of language, the body, and feminist critique. Binga adopted the male pseudonym in 1976 to subvert patriarchal power structures in art and society. The show features over twenty polystyrene works, the immersive installation 'Io sono una carta' (1976), and the iconic photographic diptych 'Io sono Io. Io sono me' (1977) by Verita Monselles. The exhibition design by Rio Grande collective transforms the space into an extension of the body. A participatory wall invites visitors to write words to 'preserve,' echoing Binga's 1974 action 'Parole da conservare / Parole da distruggere.' The artist herself wrote 'Amore' on the wall. The retrospective runs at the Madre Museum in Naples.
