Tomáš Pospiszyl Curates Accessible Young Artists' Biennial in Prague, Rejecting Rigid Themes
In 2010, Tomáš Pospiszyl organized the Young Artists' Biennial at the House at the Stone Bell, part of the Prague City Gallery, highlighting emerging Czech artists to enhance accessibility. Prioritizing individual pieces rather than a cohesive theme, the exhibition showcased various mediums, including film and photography, with significant input from the Rafani Collective and Jiří Thýn. Although street artists ToyBox and Epos 257 were involved, Epos 257 eventually withdrew. Pospiszyl worked alongside Dominik Lang on the exhibition's design, characterizing the event as "pop" and suitable for families. He noted differences between his vision and those of the Berlin Biennial and Istanbul Biennale, while expressing admiration for the Whitney Biennial. The biennial, which began in 1996, featured works that explored memory and social issues. Pospiszyl is also an educator at the Film and TV School in Prague.
