Tom Sachs Discusses Ritual Exhibition at Thaddaeus Ropac During London Gallery Weekend

From June 3 to July 31, 2021, Tom Sachs showcased his exhibition Ritual at Thaddaeus Ropac in London, coinciding with the first London Gallery Weekend. During a dialogue with En Liang Khong, Sachs shared his influences drawn from urban street environments, such as surveillance cameras and trash bins. He highlighted the significance of late-night convenience stores and incorporated common materials like plywood and cardboard into his creations. Among his notable works are the Apollo 11 Lunar Excursion Module and a model of a McDonald's Frying Station displayed at the Astrup Fearnley Museet. His previous exhibitions include solo presentations at the Brooklyn Museum and Fondazione Prada. Sachs, a New York native born in 1966, pursued studies at Bennington College and the Architectural Association.
