Tom of Finland Exhibition at Western Project and Tom Otterness Sculptures at Beverly Hills City Hall
From July 29 to September 9, 2006, Western Project in Culver City, California presented an exhibition of Tom of Finland's work. The show emphasized themes of freedom and narrative in his art, moving beyond simplistic interpretations of his subjects. Meanwhile, eight sculptures by Tom Otterness were installed on the west lawn of Beverly Hills City Hall from November 15, 2005 through April 30, 2006. Otterness's pieces explored entrepreneurship and American justice through monetary themes, specifically referencing the wealth of Beverly Hills. Both exhibitions were documented by Tania Hammidi for artcritical. The Western Project exhibition highlighted the artist's comedic and intimate approach to portraiture.
