Tom Kundig Publishes Monograph and Previews Second Volume for 2027
Architect Tom Kundig, a partner at Olson Kundig, has released 'Tom Kundig: Complete Houses' (Phaidon), a monograph documenting 462 residential projects. The book, edited by Dung Ngo, includes conversations with Kundig and covers his career from early influences in the Pacific Northwest to his signature kinetic, landscape-responsive designs. A second volume, 'Tom Kundig: Complete Works,' is scheduled for 2027. Kundig's firm, founded by Jim Olson, now employs over 350 people. Notable projects include a cabin in northern Idaho with a 20-by-30-foot hand-cranked window wall, a residence in the San Juan Islands cut into a rocky outcrop, a Malibu house on a pier, and a North Fork Long Island home enfolding a Jean Prouvé prefabricated structure. Kundig initially studied geophysics before turning to architecture.
