Tom Engels to curate 15th Baltic Triennial in Vilnius
Since 2021, Tom Engels has served as the artistic director and curator at Grazer Kunstverein and has now been chosen to oversee the 15th Baltic Triennial, set to debut in mid-2024. This event will mark the opening of the renovated Contemporary Arts Centre Vilnius. Engels, recognized for his exploration of the intersection between performance and visual arts, has previously worked with choreographers such as Alexandra Bachzetsis during documenta 14 in Athens and Kassel, as well as Mette Ingvartsen for steirischer herbst in Graz, alongside Mette Edvardsen, Bryana Fritz, and PRICE/Mathias Ringgenberg. Kęstutis Kuizinas, director of CAC Vilnius, lauded Engels's curatorial approach as "a ray of light refracting through a prism," rooted in "poetic principles." The triennial seeks to uphold its tradition of addressing intricate geopolitical issues.
