Tom Burr's Helio-Centricidades Exhibition Opens at EAV Parque Lage in Rio de Janeiro

exhibition · 2026-04-23

The exhibition Helio-Centricidades by American conceptual artist Tom Burr is set to open on Saturday, November 3, at EAV Parque Lage in Rio de Janeiro, and will be on display until December 8. This marks the second showing of the exhibition, which first appeared at auroras in São Paulo. For this event, Burr has created two new pieces that showcase his fascination with Brazilian art from the 1950s to the 1970s, with a particular focus on Hélio Oiticica. His collaboration with Ricardo Kugelmas began five years ago through a mutual acquaintance. In under three weeks, Burr crafted his works on-site using materials such as worn t-shirts and pages from books, addressing themes of conservatism and personal identity while linking the political climates of Brazil and the U.S.
