Tom Burr exhibition at EAV Parque Lage connects with Hélio Oiticica's legacy

Tom Burr is presenting an exhibition at EAV Parque Lage that establishes connections with Hélio Oiticica's work. The show features new installations and sculptures by Burr that respond to Oiticica's Parangolés and participatory concepts. Concurrently, the Museum of Modern Art of Bahia (MAM Bahia) is hosting a retrospective of Melvin Edwards, showcasing his Lynch Fragments series and large-scale sculptures. Edwards's exhibition includes works spanning five decades, highlighting his exploration of African American identity and industrial materials. Both exhibitions opened in early 2024 and run through mid-year. Burr's presentation at Parque Lage occupies the main gallery spaces and outdoor areas of the historic mansion. Edwards's show at MAM Bahia features over 50 pieces, including early welded steel works and recent commissions.
