Tokyo Ballet House by Kenta SANO & Associates Opens in Toshima
Kenta SANO & Associates has completed Tokyo Ballet House, a four-story steel-frame building in Toshima, Tokyo, that combines a ballet studio with a compact residence. The design reimagines the ballet studio as an urban stage by opening the hall toward the street, allowing passersby to become an informal audience. The project covers 283 m² and was completed in 2024. The lead architect is Kenta SANO, with a design team including Sakutaro Kakehashi and Rena Yamamoto. Structural engineering was provided by yasuhirokaneda Structure, Beyond Engineering, and Glass Masters and Partners; lighting design by Izumi Okayasu Lighting Design; interior design by Yoko Ando Design; and general contracting by Kenshosha Co., Ltd. The project was curated by Miwa Negoro.
