TOILETPAPER Brings Giant Mural to Milan's Piscina Cozzi and Opens Home Store

Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari's TOILETPAPER project has created a site-specific installation at the Piscina Cozzi in Milan, in collaboration with Desigual, and opened a TOILETPAPER Home store in Città Studi. The mural, titled BE WATER, measures 10x30 meters (nearly 250 square meters) and features a photograph of a woman's face and hands emerging from a cartoonish sea, set against the pool's rationalist 1930s architecture. Cattelan, who swims at Cozzi almost daily, said the project realized a long-held fantasy. The installation required special paint to withstand chlorine and humidity, and involved a lengthy bureaucratic process due to the building's protected status. The mural will be on view for one year, with free access from September 7-10 by registration, then open to all. Separately, TOILETPAPER Home launched at via Balzaretti 4, in collaboration with SELETTI, featuring irreverent furniture and the BE WATER imagery. The project is part of Milan's initiative to bring design to sports facilities, with Mayor Beppe Sala emphasizing public-private partnerships.
