institutional · 2026-04-20

Over the past year, Toby Webster and Andrew Hamilton, the directors of The Modern Institute, have maintained a robust exhibition schedule at their two Glasgow locations, showcasing solo works by Simon Starling, Cathy Wilkes, Monika Sosnowska, and Nicholas Party. Notably, Party made his Los Angeles debut at the Hammer Museum. In late 2015, the gallery featured Kiti Ka’aeté, the second phase of its collaboration with Brazilian gallery Mendes Wood DM, highlighting artists from Brazil, Mexico, and Spain. Additionally, the gallery's publishing division introduced new works by Shio Kusaka, Ann Collier, and Joanne Tatham & Tom O’Sullivan. The Glasgow International festival in April emphasized the gallery's commitment to supporting artists and its international connections, which are vital to its continued success.
