TO TO MAG: New Independent Magazine Chronicles Global Cities Through Italian Eyes

TO TO MAG is an independent print magazine founded by four Italian women—Elena Gabella, Eleonora Trentini, Lucia Madonnini, and Cristina Coletti—that explores foreign cities through the experiences and emotions of Italians living abroad. The first issue, published in April 2024, focuses on Berlin, featuring photo reportages, personal interviews, and emotional maps. The founders previously ran an informal collective on Italians abroad and decided to create a tangible, printed object to counter digital volatility. The magazine's name derives from a creative brainstorming: 'to' meaning 'toward' in English, with two 'O's representing curious eyes, and 'MAG' clarifying it as a magazine. The title also alludes to 'Toto scommesse' (betting), symbolizing the risk of launching an independent publication. The second issue will be dedicated to Lisbon, with a different aesthetic. The founders aim to expand the project into a broader reference point for Italians moving abroad. The magazine is described as 'free, connections, airy'—not a tourist guide but a collection of authentic experiences.
