Tiziano Rossi finalist at Strega Poesia 2025 with 'Il brusìo'
Tiziano Rossi, born in Milan in 1935, is among the five finalists for the Premio Strega Poesia 2025 with his latest collection 'Il brusìo' (Einaudi, 2025). The winner will be announced on October 8 in Rome. Rossi debuted in 1963 with 'Il Cominciamondo' (Argalìa) and has since published major works including 'Miele e no', 'Pare che il paradiso', and 'Gente di corsa' (Premio Viareggio), mostly with Garzanti, which also issued 'Tutte le poesie (1963-2000)'. Later collections include 'Controvento' (Il Faggio, 2005), 'Cronaca perduta' (Mondadori, 2006), 'Qualcosa di strano. Raccontini' (La Vita Felice, 2015), and 'Gli affaccendati' (Moretti & Vitali, 2024). 'Il brusìo' arrives 25 years after 'Gente di corsa', a period during which Rossi shifted toward prose works like 'Cronaca perduta' and 'Bestie e affini'. He views prose as 'dilated poetry' and poetry as 'concentrated prose'. The collection's first two parts address war, violence, and death; the latter two are more serene. The title refers to the interweaving of infinite voices in the world. Rossi's early work (1960s-70s) had engagement and contestation, later aimed to illuminate humble reality, and now turns to domestic-familial themes. He expresses a wish that all five finalists could win.
