Titian and Landscape: A Journey Through Cadore's Sacred Art and Alpine Heritage
The exhibition titled 'Titian and the Landscape,' overseen by curators Bernard Aikema and Thomas Dalla Costa, is currently on display at the Palazzo della Magnifica Comunità di Cadore until October 18, 2026. The initial location is MARC, which exhibits items ranging from the pre-Roman period to the Early Middle Ages, featuring votive bronzes and a mosaic from the 2nd century BCE. In Vigo di Cadore, significant churches include the Church of Sant'Orsola (1313-1321), the votive Church of the Madonna della Difesa (1312-1515), and the pieve of San Martino Vescovo (1189-1559). The Church of San Giovanni Battista showcases works by Titian's siblings, while Santi Vito, Modesto e Crescenzia dates back to 1208. This itinerary also highlights efforts to preserve local heritage.
