Titanique Producer Accuses Former General Manager of $2.8M Fraud
The off-Broadway production of Titanique has secured a $4.3 million default judgment against its former general manager, Carl Flanigan, for allegedly doctoring financial statements and diverting funds. The lawsuit, filed in Chesterfield County Circuit Court in Virginia, claims Flanigan made unauthorized loans totaling $2.8 million connected to Titanique and other shows. Flanigan, who joined Maximum Entertainment Productions (MEP) in 2016, was responsible for budgeting and finances. He was terminated in spring 2025 after confessing to diverting funds and falsifying documents. The production notified investors and reported the actions to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York. The scandal involves a $195,000 loan from Kapitus Servicing Inc., which Flanigan obtained by falsely claiming to be the show's owner. Titanique, which won two Olivier Awards and received four Tony nominations, continues to run at a loss on Broadway.
