Tired Palm Trees at Art Sonje Center Explores Human Exploitation of Nature

exhibition · 2026-04-22

At the Art Sonje Center in Seoul, the exhibition 'Tired Palm Trees,' curated by Elisabeth Piskernik and Markus Waitschacher, offers a critical perspective on palm trees as icons of tranquility, underscoring their misuse. This marks the third installment of the exhibition, in partnership with Le Cube in Rabat, following previous showcases in Austria (2019) and Le Cube (2022). Among the highlighted pieces are Victor Cruz and Hugo Portillo's 'Tropical sculptures: the possibility of impossibility' (2024), Regula Dettwiler's watercolors 'Efeutute made in China' (2014) and installation 'Top Performers' (2024), as well as works by Roswitha Weingrill, Seif Kousmate, Katrin Ströbel, Mi Jung Shin, Edith Payer, and Jongwan Jang. The exhibition will be open until 4 August 2024.
