Tirana Art Weekend 2024: First Edition Unites Albanian Art Scene

Scheduled from November 29 to December 1, 2024, the inaugural Tirana Art Weekend is hosted by AVAN – the Albanian Visual Arts Network, which was established in the spring of 2024. This event aligns with Albania's Independence Day, celebrated on November 28, 1912, and seeks to amplify the voices of independent galleries and spaces while showcasing both emerging and established artists. The historic villa of the Institute for the Integration of Former Political Victims serves as the primary venue, newly restored for this occasion, featuring exhibitions from cultural entities lacking a permanent location or from other areas. Various galleries and independent spaces across Tirana will participate in coordinated programming, including Art House, Art Kontakt, and Tirana Art Lab-Center for Contemporary Art. A satellite program will highlight Apparat Studio and Galleria delle Arti di Tirana. The board of AVAN comprises Amanita Peza (Bazament Art Space), Elian Stefa (Galeria e Bregdetit), and Sonila Abdalli (Bulevard Art and Media Institute), promoting transparency, artistic research, critical thinking, and freedom of expression while supporting visual artists in Albania.
