Tinos: The Cyclades' Best All-Around Island for Art, Food, and Culture

Tinos, a 15-minute ferry from Mykonos, is emerging as the Cyclades' best all-around island, offering a rich tapestry of art, food, and culture. The island boasts over 700 churches and chapels, including the Panagia Evangelistria, Greece's most visited religious site, drawing nearly two million pilgrims annually. Its culinary scene is rooted in local ingredients like artichokes, capers, figs, honey, and wild herbs, with iconic products such as graviera and kopanisti cheeses, louza, and pigeon dishes. The wine industry, once devastated by Venetian uprooting in the early 1600s, is experiencing a revival led by wineries like T-Oinos, founded by Alexandre Avatangelos and Gérard Margeon, and Volacus Winery, among others. The island's villages, including Pyrgos, known for its marble heritage and the Museum of Marble Crafts, and Kardiani, with its Orthodox and Catholic churches, offer distinct experiences.
