Times Art Center Berlin debuts with exhibition exploring itinerancy beyond diaspora narratives

exhibition · 2026-04-20

On September 28, 2019, Times Art Center Berlin inaugurated its inaugural significant exhibition titled 'Neither Black/Red/Yellow Nor Woman,' which will be on display until January 11, 2020. Curated by Nikita Yingqian Cai and Xiaoyu Weng, the exhibition showcases the works of 19 artists from Asia, Europe, and Latin America, emphasizing themes of mobility and identity. The conceptual foundation is inspired by a quote from Trinh T. Minh-Ha. Among the featured works are Mia Yu's film essay 'A Journey from Silence' (2017) about Pan Yuliang's archives, Shen Xin's 'Warm Spell' (2018) that delves into queer bodies, and Jane Jin Kaisen's 'Apertures/Specters/Rifts' (2016), which contrasts her trip to North Korea with Kate Fleron's 1951 visit. Other participating artists include Thao Nguyen Phan, Mai Ling, and Evelyn Taocheng Wang.
