Tim Van Laere Gallery Opens Second Location in Rome

Tim Van Laere Gallery, founded in Antwerp in 1997, is opening a second location in Rome at Palazzo Donarelli Ricci on Via Giulia, a 17th-century building in the Renaissance heart of the city. The gallery describes Rome as "a battlefield for art" that invites contemporary artists to maintain an ongoing dialogue with the city's historical layers. The new space will debut on November 18 with a solo exhibition by Belgian artist Ben Sledsens titled "Un Nuovo Viaggio" (A New Journey), featuring colorful paintings that blend nature motifs with imaginative compositions. The gallery's main location in Antwerp, designed by OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen, moved to a 1,000-square-meter sustainable space in the Nieuw Zuid district in 2019. Tim Van Laere Gallery represents artists including Rinus Van de Velde, Ben Sledsens, Bram Demunter, Adrian Ghenie, Leiko Ikemura, Jonathan Meese, and Gelitin. The expansion marks the gallery's first international venture outside Belgium, drawn by Rome's historical stratification and cultural richness.
