Tim Pope's Memoir Chronicles Wild Music Video Adventures with Bowie, Mercury, and the Cure

Tim Pope, a celebrated director of music videos for iconic artists such as the Cure, David Bowie, Queen, Soft Cell, and Neil Young, has launched a memoir entitled 'I Shoot Rock Stars'. In this book, he reflects on his experiences during MTV's peak era, where he often put artists in unconventional scenarios, such as dressing Freddie Mercury as a prawn for Queen's 'It's a Hard Life' and confining the Cure in a submerged wardrobe for 'Close to Me'. Starting his journey at Latymer Grammar School, he filmed bands for £100 and gained recognition with Soft Cell's 'Bedsitter'. Over his career, he produced 37 videos for the Cure and collaborated with McCartney and Iggy Pop. Pope asserts that MTV's shift away from 'Music Television' in 2010 marked the end of that golden age, yet he remains active in video production.
