Tim Marlow departs Royal Academy for Design Museum leadership role

Tim Marlow will leave his position as Artistic Director of the Royal Academy of Arts in December 2019 and will take on the role of Chief Executive and Director at the Design Museum in London starting January 2020. During his six years at the RA, he managed various departments, including Collections and Learning, and curated several prominent exhibitions such as Ai Weiwei in 2015 and Antony Gormley in 2019. Marlow expressed his fondness for the Royal Academy, calling it “a wonderful institution,” and shared how much he enjoyed his time there. He described his upcoming position at the Design Museum as an irresistible challenge, with backing from the Academy’s President Christopher Le Brun and Chief Executive Axel Rüger.
